PTO Board and Committee Chair Elections – May 7th 2015, 7:00pm

We need new board members!

The current Rennell PTO board will be retiring from their position as each member has fulfilled their two year by-law commitment.  We are looking for all positions for next year including Committee Chairs.  Any PTO member can run for a board position for next year.  Please see below the positions available.  If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Lisa Shaw, lisarshaw@comcast.net.    Each position is a 2 year commitment for PTO members and may be shared between two individuals.

Executive Board

President - Works closely with the Principal and school administration.  Oversees all Executive Board members and chair people.  Plans and runs PTO meetings. attends monthly district meetings.

1st VP – Homeroom Activities - Responsible for all homeroom activities which include homeroom parents, homeroom helpers, homeroom readers and Field Day committee.

2nd VP – Major Fundraising - Responsible for coordinating an annual fundraising plan and executing the plan in conjunction with the VP of Secondary Fundraising.  Oversees Boosterthon Fun Run and Spring Fundraiser.

3rd VP – Curriculum Support - Manages activities for the children by procuring sufficient/appropriate curriculum-based activities on-site, provide all grade levels with similar amount of activities, and coordinate chairpersons for the following committees: Art Room, Science Resource Center and Junior Achievement.

4th VP – Minor Fundraising - Responsible for coordinating an annual fundraising plan and executing the plan in conjunction with the VP of Primary Fundraising.  Oversees Spirit Shop, Box-Tops and Spirit Nights.

5th VP - Membership - Responsible for all aspects of PTO membership and PTO Directory

VP – VIPS Coordinator -The VIPS Coordinator focuses on recruitment, retention, and recognition of all school volunteers. They oversee the committee chairs of the following committees: Vision and Hearing, Picture Day, and Hospitality committees.

Treasurer - Responsible for developing and proposing an itemized annual budget, keeping accurate records of receipts and expenditures, preparing financial statements and filing of taxes and financial forms. Responsible for receiving all monies of the PTO, payment and reimbursement of funds in accordance with the approved budget.

Secretary - Responsible for recording and distributing minutes of all meetings.  Plans programs for PTO General Meetings.


Committee Chairperson Positions

 

**All Chairpersons must be willing and able to communicate with Executive Board and all committee members on a monthly basis.

Art & Music Room Coordinator:  The Art & Music Room Coordinator will work closely with the art and music teachers to organize art and grade level music activities.  This position reports to the 3rd VP of Curriculum Support.

Boxtops for Education:  The Boxtops Chairman will coordinate minor fundraising events such as Boxtops for Education, Tyson A+ Labels, and Ink Cartridge Recycling.  This position will report to the 4th VP of Minor Fundraising. 

Field Day Coordinator:  Coordinates and works with PE Teachers and PTO Executive Board on all Field Day related activities and souvenirs.  This position reports to the 1st Vice President of Homeroom Activities.

Hospitality:  Coordinates and organizes all events for recognition of teachers and staff such as Teacher Appreciation Week and monthly recognitions.  This position reports to the VIPS Coordinators.

Junior Achievement:  Coordinates trained JA volunteers for all grade levels.  This position reports to the 3rd VP of Curriculum Support.

Library:  Coordinates and works with volunteers to assist the media specialist in various aspects of the library’s operation including shelving books, filing, typing, book circulation, and book fairs.  This position reports to the 3rd VP of Curriculum Support.

Picture Day:   Coordinates volunteers for all student picture days.  This position will report to the VIPS Coordinators.

Red Ribbon Week:  Coordinates and works with school administrative team on all Red Ribbon Week related activities and souvenirs. This position will report to the VIPS Coordinators.

Spring Fling:  Coordinates and works with volunteers on Spring Fling related games, silent auction, concessions, entertainment, volunteer coordination, ticket sales, etc. This position will report to the 2nd VP of Major Fundraising.

School Supplies:  Organizes and coordinates the bidding process, ordering, purchasing and delivery of the School Supplies ordered through the PTO.  This position will also need to provide manpower for sales activities during Kindergarten Registration and orientation.  This position will report to the 4th VP of Minor Fundraising.

Spirit Shop:  Organizes and coordinates the volunteers who work at the monthly Rennell Spirit Shop, as well as, acts as buyer for all items for each Spirit Shop.  This position will work closely with and report to the 4th VP of Minor Fundraising.

Vision and Hearing Screening:  Coordinates and works with school nurse and volunteers on all vision and hearing screening related activities. This position will report to the VIPS Coordinators.

Yearbook:  Coordinates and works with volunteers who do the photographing, layout, ordering, and distribution of the yearbook.  This position will report to the Secretary.

Watch D.O.G. – Coordinates Watch D.O.G. activities.  Recruits dads, leads orientation and schedules monthly visits. Updates Marquee.
